Exams are completely optional. It is up to the student to decide if they are learning purely for pleasure or if they would like to partake in exams. The opportunity is always available.

Preparing for exams will help the student develop all aspects of their playing in a structured way. It provides motivation to increase their knowledge of techniques and music theory.
